TAJ Invoice Requirements

For your invoice to be valid for GCT purposes, TAJ requires these elements:

Required Fields
  1. The words "Tax Invoice"
  2. Your business name
  3. Your TRN (Taxpayer Registration Number)
  4. Your GCT registration number
  5. Invoice date
  6. Sequential invoice number
  7. Customer name
  8. Customer TRN (if GCT-registered)
  9. Description of goods/services
  10. Subtotal amount
  11. GCT amount (shown separately)
  12. Total amount
Best Practices
  • Use sequential invoice numbers (INV-001, INV-002)
  • Include payment terms
  • Add your bank details
  • Show a clear due date
  • Include your contact information
  • Use your business logo
  • Keep copies for 6 years (TAJ audit period)
  • Send via email for faster payment

Common Invoice Mistakes

Mistake #1: Not showing GCT separately

TAJ requires GCT to be a separate line item. Don't just say "Total includes GCT."

Mistake #2: Missing GCT registration number

If you're GCT-registered, your registration number must appear on every invoice.

Mistake #3: Charging GCT when not registered

Only GCT-registered businesses can charge GCT. If you're not registered, don't include it.

Mistake #4: Random invoice numbers

Invoice numbers must be sequential. This helps TAJ track your sales and makes audits easier.
